Blue Eye Samurai; Fire and Water

There are no words to express how much this show meant to me. It inspires me endlessly with its poetic grace and truth. I was sick on the sofa with a terrible fever and I was writing and I stopped to watch the scene where Mitzu remakes her sword. Never have I felt so overwhelmed with admiration for a show. It touched my heart and took me to a deep place where I felt both inspired as an artist and filled with the potential for rebirth.

I love Mitzu. She is another excellent female character well-written. Flawed, and relatable to all.

I also could not help but notice the recurring theme of the sea. I relate so much. She comes from a fishing village and her name means water. She transforms in the sea from a teenager to an adult. But when she destroys Kyto, she does so with fire. The dualism was not lost on me. I am someone with fire and water in their chart. It feels like a contradiction.

Fire and water do not love one another. At least on the outside. I realised for a lot of my life I thought I was fire-dominant but in reality, I am something else entirely. Water is an element of great power and great sensitivity.

Fire has so much passion which would be easily extinguished by water, but it is not always so.
