The Victory

I can't remember the first time I saw the Victory. I must have been very young. Both my parents and myself at some stage have worked in the dockyard. It is indeed full of beautiful boats and ships. I have visited the Victory twice as far as I can remember. What a beautiful ship.

I laughed when I found out that a historian of Nelson had fallen in love with Nelson after visiting the Victory at the age of  8. I guess something similar must have happened to me but I can't remember when.

Though the death of Nelson is probably the most depressing part. There is a part of me that wishes this long-dead white apparently straight man hadn't died. Emma Hamilton had such a sad fate. As did his wife. It was so heartbreaking. He gave everything. What was life back then? Continuous war.

War is not life. I wish these people had had lives.

I can't imagine I will ever visit the Victory again. But perhaps maybe I will.
